Direct Democracy

Direct Democracy is: A form of Government in which policies and laws are decided by a majority of all those eligible, rather than by a body of elected Representatives

This song is the fire at the center of the record.
Direct Democracy isn’t just a title — it’s a declaration. A demand. A vision.

I wrote this song because I believe we’ve hit the end of the road for representative democracy as we know it. We’ve seen the damage: politicians who campaign on change but govern on behalf of the highest bidder. Policies shaped in boardrooms, not living rooms. Decisions made without us, for us.

And I’ve had enough. So this is me turning that frustration into rhythm — turning the system on its head.

The title track from my album: Direct Democracy

A voice for the unheard. A rhythm for the rising. A movement set to music.

The Political Pulse

“Representation just a fact / The middle man has to turn back…”

We’ve been sold the idea that representation equals freedom — but what good is a vote when it gets diluted, redirected, and lost in the halls of power?
This isn’t about being radical. It’s about being real. In 2025, we have the technology to legislate directly. So why are we still outsourcing our voices?

“Corruption bursting at the scenes / We need direct democracy…”

We’ve watched scandal after scandal unfold, all while being told to “wait our turn” or “vote harder.” This song is my response to that.
I’m not asking. I’m stating.
We demand direct democracy.

For the majority of human history, most societies have been run by a limited number of participants. Monarchy, Autocracy and other forms of limited participation government is mostly how the world was run. The ancient Greeks introduced the ideas of Democracy, but it wasn’t until 300 years ago, that the idea started to take hold. This eventually gave rise to the formation of Democratic governments, known to us today as Representative Democracy. This movement would eventually give the power of the vote to the masses. Governance, finally, had taken its first steps to being by the people and for the people.

Like any system, after time, there is always a need for reevaluation and with that the potential for making tweaks and changes. I feel that the representative democracy of today is at that stage.

To me, something feels off with today’s Representative Democracy. I am not alone in this sentiment. Multiple polls and surveys over the last decade have shown a growing discontentment with the state of democracy across nearly all western democracies. Many feel that their vote lacks any real power and that their representatives are not properly representing their interests. This is not limited to one party, or one group, it seems to cut across all sectors of society. Many now feel that their government is no longer a government by and for the people. Most feel that their government needs fixing.

Improving our Representative Democracy is one option. But in my opinion, there are too many leaks and holes to plug and fix. I believe that we need to evolve the system into a purer form of Democracy known as Direct Democracy.

The Dictionary definition of Direct Democracy is: A form of Government in which policies and laws are decided by a majority of all those eligible, rather than by a body of elected Representatives.

Direct Democracy gives power to the people. In a Direct Democracy, representatives are no longer needed to make policy and laws because the citizens become legislators and the whole of the citizenry becomes the legislature. WE THE PEOPLE, introduce laws. WE THE PEOPLE, vote on laws. WE THE PEOPLE, repeal laws. WE THE PEOPLE are the government. WE THE PEOPLE are the power.

How do we evolve away from a Representative Democracy and implement a system of Direct Democracy? How do we go from electing representatives once every 4 years to voting multiple times a year on specific policies and laws? How do we get there from here? Those questions will take time and effort for all of us to answer. But, if we intend to improve upon our democracy, then we will. The mass of the people united in one goal will always bring about change.

The evolution from a representative democracy to a direct democracy is not a tearing down of the system. It is the opposite. We would be taking a form of democracy that has been good in many ways, but tweaking it so it becomes the next best version of itself. Retaining the best parts and making changes to the parts that don’t work.

If this idea excites or interests you, I hope that you will do more research to learn about and consider the merits of Direct Democracy. Spend time comparing Direct Democracy with Representative Democracy. If you conclude that Direct Democracy is the best next step for us, find ways to spread the idea and help make it flourish. The more people that consider and debate this, the better the chance we have of evolving into a system of government that is truly By the People and For the People.

Power to the people!

We don’t need middlemen.
We need
each other.

What It Sounds Like

TRACK: “Direct Democracy”

The music hits with intention.
It’s gritty, driven, and confrontational — because the topic demands it. Guido’s guitar cuts like static on a broken radio, and Alonso’s production doesn’t hold back. The beat keeps you moving, but the message keeps you thinking.

This isn’t passive listening. This is a sonic challenge.

Breaking Down the Lines

There’s some surrealism in this song — and that’s deliberate. Because navigating our political system feels surreal.

“Inverted hair made just a dream…”

That’s about distortion. About how everything that should make sense — justice, equality, power — has been flipped upside down and filtered through performance. Even beauty, even truth, gets twisted.

“A boat that counts as all he has…”
“You buy the constant shoe and seat…”

That’s the modern citizen’s dilemma. We’re clinging to tiny symbols of stability while the system quietly sells us short. And somehow, we still act like the show must go on.

The Team Behind the Track

This song is the pulse of the project.
It’s angry, but not destructive. It’s frustrated, but not hopeless. It’s critical, but constructive.
That’s who I am as an artist — and as a citizen.
I believe in systems. I just think we need a better one.

And we’re capable of building it.

This song isn’t about me. It’s about us.
If it hits something in you — don’t just stream it. Start the conversation.

take action, send me a message

Because we are no longer spectators in a broken game.
We are the players now.
We are the rulebook.

And I was told by the sages… It’s time.
